Ahead Financials will sponsor a slate of activities on Feb. 6 ahead of the Super Bowl to promote diversity and inclusion of people of color, educate viewers about “financial responsibility,” and promote its digital banking offerings.
The activities include three panels, a Madden 21: The Yard Experience competition, and a “half-time” show to entertain viewers. All of these events will feature participation from NFL players, popular content creators, artists, and professional players. The festivities will be streamed live via SpawnOnMe’s Twitch Channel. SpawnOnMe is a channel and video game-themed podcast that puts a spotlight on gamers of color.
During the stream, two sets of teams will compete to receive a scholarship of $2.5K USD provided by Corner Store Studios. Each team will be composed of celebrity gamers and students in a competition using Madden 21: The Yard Experience. Confirmed to take part in the competition are: San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert; former Green Bay Packers, Hall of Famer, and Lakeland University esports coach Ahman Green; and New York Giants safety Adrian Colbert. PlayOneUp will also raffle off a “total of 8 PS5 + XBOX Series” consoles during the tournament every hour.
A panel discussing the global phenomenon of gaming and esports and its impact on culture titled, “The Business & Cultural Impact of Gaming and Esports,” will be moderated by writer, gaming personality, and XSET investor Erin Ashley Simon, who will be joined by Sugar Games’ Keisha Howard, hip hop artist and podcaster Adriana “BunnyMightGameU” Quezada; PlayOneUp founder Brandon Pitts, and hip hop artist/producer/DJ Justin Gregory Smith (Just Blaze).
Another panel called “Show Me the Money” explores how professional football players are increasingly investing their wealth in different ventures to find financial success off the field. This panel will be moderated by Anthony Brown, with participation by former Indianapolis Colts running back and Hall of Famer Edgerrin James, former Kansas City Chiefs running back Corey Mays, former New York Giants safety Deon Grant, and Ahead Financials COO Kimberly Morgan.
A third panel called “Breaking the Glass Ceiling: Addressing Gender Equality in Sports,” explores why female athletes are paid less than men, even when they perform better in their respective sport. This panel will be moderated by influencer Karen Civil, with participation by Santia Deck of the Los Angeles Fames, Jisset Pena from Roc Nation Sports, Ahead Financials CEO Anu Shultes; Overtime Head of Athlete Relations Shea Dawson, and Roc Nation NFL Player Agent Kimberly Miale.
Finally, a curated half-time show, BREAKr presents “THE SHOW,” will air during the stream. It will feature artist performances and an exclusive world premiere. Those artists include Kosine, Asa2Times, Shake & Bake, BrandonR, ReeBaby, and Solo the Dweeb.
