Here are some of the latest updates to Dota 2.
The Fall Season is coming soon, which is why Valve decided to release a big update that changes a lot of things, especially for Dota Plus. Let’s take a look at some of the most notable changes and everything we need to know about them.
The New Treasure
The first thing that Valve decided to add is a new chest that can be purchased by every Dota Plus member using shards. It features 12 unique community-created sets for Leshrac, Nyx Assassin, Medusa, Clockwerrk, Doom, Sven, and more.
What’s also really cool about it is that it includes Prismatic and Ethernal gems. Furthermore, every Dota Plus member can also win a Blazing Hatchling courier, which will have either one of the gems.
The company’s future plans are to introduce a season treasure that can be purchased every three months. For now, we know that the next treasure will be available on the first of December. So, we should see the new one three months after that.
Dota Plus Changes
One of the most notable changes is that every Dota Plus member now has additional ways of earning sharts. In fact, you can get up to 57,850 shards from a new season of quests for Fall 2020. The shards are the tool you’ll need in order to unlock the Seasonal Treasure.
Another new feature is called “Role Assistant”, which will help you if you’re not sure what role you should take. This feature will basically display the roles that a certain hero played. Even though this might not feel that useful, this is actually a pretty good option because it will allow those who are not following the meta to get an idea of what’s going on.
Some Battle Pass Features are now available in Dota Plus
Unfortunately, the TI 10 Battle Pass won’t wast forever. Hence, Valve decided to add some of the most notable features from the Battle Pass directly to Dota Plus. Here is what you’ll find:
- Some of the Chat Wheel Sounds are now available if you have shards.
- If you hold ALT, you will see the pull timers of all camps.
- The Battle Pass MVP feature is available to all players. However, those who are Dota Plus members will also get extra shards, thanks to a Seasonal Quest.
- The Dota Plus damage tab now also shows post-game healing and the gold breakdown.
It’s also worth knowing that you can now avoid up to 25 players. Previously, this number was just 16.
From now on, every player will have access to shards. instead of just the Dota Plus members. If you are not a Dota Plus member, you can still reach Hero Level 5. However, you can only go to Silver and above if you are a subscriber. In addition, all players will also earn weekly shards when they win three matches.
The guilds were one of the most interesting aspects of this year’s Battle Pass. Valve decided to keep the existing guilds but they’ve also changed some of the rewards because they only worked in the context of the Battle Pass.
What’s also interesting is that there is no longer a Guild Level. Instead, each region now has a leaderboard where guild members will receive a new guild rank once a week. Apart from that, you will also win a shard.
However, once the end of the week arrives, all existing guilds will start to “decay” so that the new guilds have a chance to catch up to the existing ones. If you want to complete the different guild challenges, you need to be in a party with at least three members.
Lastly, you can participate in a guild even if you’re not a Dota Plus member. Nevertheless, you can only create one if you are a subscriber.
One of the things that we’ve learned from Valve’s update is that they will try to release a new hero around November. What’s more, the plans are to see a new hero in the first quarter of next year.
Lastly, there have been changes to how Valve handles the smurfs and the overall toxicity in the game. According to them, they made improvements to their smurf detection system, and as a result, they’ve started separating new accounts from entering the pool of normal and new players.
Also, more than 14,000 accounts got banned for boosting, which means that Valve is finally taking this issue seriously. We hope we’ll see more improvements in this area in the future because this is one of the main problems that most players have to deal with.
