In-game apps platform Overwolf announced that it has raised a $52.5M USD Series C financing round co-led by Griffin Gaming Partners and Insight Partners with participation from further investors including Ubisoft, Warner Music Group, Immortals Gaming Club investor Meg Whitman, Gen.G co-founder Kevin Chou, and existing investors Marker, Intel Capital and Liberty Media. The investment round brings Overwolf’s total capital raised to more than $75M to date.
Tel Aviv-based Overwolf, revealed that it intends to use the funding to “boost development firepower dedicated to creating services for creators and to create more opportunities and vehicles to invest in, and with, the in-game creator community.”
Furthermore, Overwolf announced the launch of CurseForge Core, a user–generated content service platform. CurseForge Core provides a software development kit (SDK) for game developers that integrates into the game itself and functions as a gateway for users to discover and install mods in-game.
Overwolf acquired the repository of mods for video games CurseForge in June last year from Amazon-owned streaming platform Twitch.
