The Mobile Legends M2 World Championship is the third most-watched esports event of all time

The M2 World Championship for Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has earned itself a place in the top three most-watched esports events of all time according to the popular data site Esports Charts.

The most popular tournament of January across all of esports was one for the books with only the 2019 and 2020 League of Legends World Championship Finals out performing the event in that category. Over 2.81 million viewers were watching the event at its peak.

While undisputedly more popular in the South East Asia region, the English broadcast viewership numbers were also quite impressive. The event logged 248,022 peak viewership on their English language stream. 8.7% of the total viewership for the event was credited to the English broadcast via Esports Charts.

While not topping the charts, the event wasn’t too drastically far behind the English broadcasts of LEC (361,625), League of Legends’ LCS Lock In (344,567), and BLAST Premier Global Finals (340,041).

Regardless of whether you’re a mobile player yourself, you have to give respect to the audience MLBB has managed to build for its esport and the continued growth it seems to be gaining as more players jump into the fray and compete for the increasing prize pools.
