How to stream and what to expect from Apple’s ‘show time’ event

Apple is holding a new event today from the Steve Jobs theater at its Cupertino campus. Teased with the title “It’s Show Time,” Apple is all but guaranteed to debut its long-discussed premium video streaming service in addition to a separate news subscription service for $9.99 per month.

The video service will reportedly offer HBO, Showtime, and Starz as $9.99 extensions (Netflix, for its part, will remain separate) in addition to a number of original titles. Apple is believed to be spending upwards of $1 billion for original movies and TV series, including an “Amazing Stories” anthology from Steven Spielberg.

What’s more, Apple may be announcing a game subscription service as well. According to Bloomberg, unlike Google’s just-announced streaming game service Stadia, Apple’s service will be a downloadable bundle of premium iPhone/iPad games offered for a monthly fee.

The company teased the event this weekend with a pre-emptive “live stream” from the theater going through various slides that reveal absolutely nothing but did get people watching.
