Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare follow-up underway at new Infinity Ward studio

Infinity Ward has opened up a new office based in Texas and is already hiring for next year’s Call Of Duty game.

With Sledgehammer Games set to release Call Of Duty: Vanguard next month, that means next year’s premium Call Of Duty game will come from Infinity Ward, the studio behind Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare.

No doubt it’s already started working on the project and Infinity Ward has even expanded its offices to Austin, Texas, joining its teams in Los Angeles, Poland, and Mexico.

Infinity Ward hasn’t shared much beyond the Twitter announcement, although it did share a link to the careers page on its official website, saying that it’s hiring for all positions.

As for what Infinity Ward’s next game could be, it’s easy to assume that it will make a sequel to the 2019 Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot. In fact, leaks from last month claim exactly that.

Rather than a re-telling of the original Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, it sounds like it will have an original plot involving Columbian drug cartels. However, those leaks didn’t mention if it will be called Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (so far, it’s referred to as Project Cortez) or which of the main Call Of Duty studios is making it.

All signs point it to being Infinity Ward though, since the cycle goes Infinity Ward, then Treyarch (which did last year’s Call Of Duty: Black Ops Cold War), then Sledgehammer, rinse and repeat.

As a reminder, Activision is currently facing a lawsuit filed by the state of California for allegedly fostering a toxic workplace. This also includes multiple accusations of sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
