New Call of Duty updates arrives this week that will help kick start COD Season 6 across Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
The main thrust of content will be on Cold War, with Activision preparing to launch its final Zombies map, named Forsaken.
A message from developers Treyarch outlines the direction of the final Undead experience for Cold War, telling fans:
“In “Forsaken,” the final round-based map in Black Ops Cold War Zombies, the team is ready to finish the fight at the heart of Omega Group: a secret test site in the U.S.S.R. that threatens to invite an even greater supernatural threat into the world.
“Behind the scenes, Requiem’s secretive Director makes the call to approve Maxis for “Operation First Domino” as Requiem and Omega prepare for the final showdown.”
Treyarch has promised fans a new Perk, Wonder Weapon and two additional Support Weapons to wield on the Forsaken map.
There will also be a new set of Challenges and new in-game Intel to uncover, with the finale scheduled for October.
A message from Activision confirms that the Treyarch Zombies team is ready to close one chapter of the Dark Aether story and open the door to another when Call of Duty Vanguard is released in November.
WHEN DOES COLD WAR SEASON 6 START AND WARZONE UPDATE?
Activision has confirmed that Call of Duty Cold War and Warzone Season 6 will start at around 5am BST, on Thursday, October 7.
Before that happens, a new Cold War update will be released on October 6, at around 5am BST, containing everything needed to begin the new season.
This will need to be installed by COD fans who want to start exploring the new Zombies map on October 7.
A message from Activision explains: “As seismic charges are triggered in WWII-era bunkers containing stockpiles of decommissioned German bombs, the stage is set for the final showdown.
“This, along with the epic conclusion of Black Ops Cold War Zombies in “Forsaken,” will all go down in Season Six of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, arriving on October 7 following updates to Black Ops Cold War on October 5 at 9 PM PT and Warzone on October 6 at 9 PM PT.”
Season 6 is expected to be one of the last major events for Black Ops Cold War, with Vanguard set to arrive later this year.
Treyarch will be moving over to Zombies developers for the new game, while Warzone will integrate and receive a new Vanguard-era map.
Here are some of the other features being planned for Black Ops Cold War this week:
Deprogram (6v6, Launch)
During Adler’s interrogation and deprogramming, memories from his convoluted past come to life as a warped combat arena in Deprogram. Here, you’ll pass through Red Doors as the fight rages on throughout Adler’s broken mind.
Each part of this map is a fragment of Adler’s memories, stitched together to form one of the most unique map experiences ever seen in Call of Duty.
Amerika (6v6, Launch)
Take the war to a Soviet recreation of an American Main Street in Season Six’s next 6v6 map, Amerika.
A secret military facility in the heart of the U.S.S.R., this medium-sized map will have you fighting through a replica of a town that includes a pizzeria, theatre, and a Burger Town mock-up. Maneuver through these buildings for close-quarter battles, and watch out for long-range weaponry that is sure to lock down the block.
Gluboko (2v2 and 3v3, Launch)
Taking place in the underground vault of the KGB headquarters, Gluboko serves as the newest map where Operators can battle in Gunfight and Face Off variants, including Face Off 6v6
The Lubyanka Building’s underbelly can be home to extremely fast-paced engagements, as fights will spill out around and on top of the main briefing table. Don’t forget to capture that Overtime flag if your opponent is still standing during a round of Gunfight.
Five Weapons: A lever-action Shotgun and a reliable Assault Rifle within the Battle Pass system, in addition to a deadly new melee weapon earned via challenge, all available on day one of Season Six. During the season, expect to earn a unique SMG and a set of dual-wield melee tools.
