Call of Duty Modern Warfare is getting a big open alpha on the PS4 this week.
Announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live, the Call of Duty Modern Warfare open alpha is launching on PS4 this Friday.
The Call of Duty Modern Warfare open alpha will focus on the 2v2 Gunfight mode and will feature five different playable maps.
This will be the first chance for PS4 fans to be able to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare ahead of the open beta and the October 25 release date.

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha will be open to all PS4 players – with no code needed to play.
The five maps that will be available to play are as follows: Speedball, King, Pine, Docks, and Stack.
Besides 2v2 Gunfight Call of Duty Modern Warfare will also feature 6v6, new 10v10, 20v20, and 100+ player modes.
Activision has also said that the Gunfight configurations will be shaken up throughout the weekend.
As reported on in a post by CharlieIntel, Activision said: “Expect multiple Operators to be available, at least one game mode to play (with “Pickup” variant mode scheduled), and a number of other surprises as content is added throughout the weekend!”

Activision has also confirmed that the Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha will start at 6pm BST on Friday August 23.
For those in other regions that will be 10am pacific time and 1pm eastern time.
An end time hasn’t been revealed yet, but the Call of Duty Modern Warfare open alpha will finish on Sunday August 25.
Preload will also reportedly begin for the Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha on Thursday.
The alpha test comes ahead of the worldwide release of Call of Duty Modern Warfare on October 25 on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.
