Control 2 Announced, First Concept Art Shared

Remedy has confirmed that it's working on a sequel to Control, aptly titled Control 2, that it's co-developing and co-publishing with 505 Games, the publishers of the last game. It also revealed the first concept art for the sequel, which looks to be as mysterious as ever.

It has been known for some time that Remedy is working on multiple projects, with one of them presumed to be another game in the Control universe. We now know that Project Heron, which was previously mentioned in earnings calls, is actually Control 2 and is now going to be developed by both Remedy and 505 Games.

The announcement was made via Twitter, confirming that Remedy and 505 are developing and publishing the game together. A single piece of concept art was also shared, revealing the logo of the game and an area that is "FBC Contained".

Alongside the concept art and announcement, Control director Mikael Kasurinen released a statement on Remedy's website. The statement reads, "With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us.

Kasurinen continues, "With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait."

More details on the partnership between 505 and Remedy were revealed through Remedy's investor site. According to the announcement, Control 2 will be on PS5, Xbox Series, and PC and is currently in the concept stage. It'll have a budget of around 50 million Euros and, although Remedy and 505 are splitting the revenue, it'll remain the intellectual property of Remedy.

The investor site announcement also contains a statement from Rami and Raffi Galante, co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group/ 505 Games. They said, “Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2."
