Death Stranding could be getting First World War themed DLC this year. That or Kojima just really likes 1917.
Hideo Kojima’s post-Metal Gear title Death Stranding may not have been everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s managed to make an impact regardless.
The game has still yet to hit PC, but Kojima may have something else planned for it later this year… we think. It’s hard to tell with Kojima.
The director recently posted a short teaser on his Twitter account, showing off some in-game footage, accompanied by the words ‘Coming 2020.’
Given the ‘Coming 2020’ phrase, the obvious implication is that Kojima is hinting at some DLC (since it’s far too early to start advertising a sequel), possibly something themed around the WWI setting.
But this is Kojima, and it’s never the obvious answer with him. Since the teaser bears an obvious resemblance to a trailer for Oscar winner 1917, a film that takes place the during First World War, it’s just as likely that he made the new video purely because he was a fan.
Is Kojima simply flexing his cinematography skills? Possibly. The man is a self-proclaimed cinephile (his Twitter bio even states that ‘70% of [his] body is made of movies’) and he loves bringing in famed Hollywood actors to appear in his games, like the aforementioned Mikkelsen.
A Reddit thread from a few months ago did claim that Death Stranding would receive DLC in 2020, but the teaser doesn’t validate this rumour.
For the time being, it may be best to assume this is just Kojima messing around in Abode Premiere, until we get some actual confirmation regarding DLC.
Death Stranding is currently only available on PlayStation 4.
