Destiny 2: All Dreaming City Ascendant Chest Locations

Destiny 2: All Dreaming City Ascendant Chest Locations

Destiny 2’s Dreaming City destinations houses some of the most elaborate secrets in the game. A weekly curse cycle and obscure mechanics culminate into one of the most secretive destinations you can visit.

Ascendant chests are just one of the many secrets this planet has, granting currency such as Dark Fragments and Baryon Boughs when opened. There are 30 chests in total, all of which are tied to the Dreaming City curse week. Only 10 can be found each week. For those looking to find all of the Dreaming City’s secrets, here is a complete guide for finding this zone’s ascendant chests in Destiny 2.

How Ascendant Chests Work

Before you begin hunting for each of these chests, it’s important to note two things:

  1. Ascendant chests are tied to the current Dreaming City curse. The Dreaming City curse has three states that rotate weekly, meaning there are three sets of Ascendant chests.
  2. You can only find Ascendant chests and their hidden paths while you have the True Sight buff. A Tincture of Queensfoil consumable grants this buff for 30 minutes.

It would be wise to stock up on Tincture of Queensfoils before you start obtaining these chests. Every activity and chest in the Dreaming City has a chance to grant a Tincture of Queensfoil. If you have a large supply of Baryon Boughs, you can also purchase them from the Huginn skull. It can be found in Harbinger’s Seclude’s lower level.

How Can I Tell Which Curse Week It Is?

Petra Venj’s location is the most obvious tell. She will move whenever the curse strength changes, relocating to the following zones:

  • Weak Curse: The Strand
  • Growing Curse: Divalian Mists
  • Strong Curse: Rheasilvia

With this tip, you can determine the current curse week without having to load into the planet; Petra’s location on the map will tell you how strong the curse is.

Week One: Weak Curse

Bay of Drowned Wishes

The Bay of Drowned Wishes is Divalian’s Mist’s Lost Sector. From spawn, turn around and run through the narrow path to reach this zone. Take out any Scorn that charge you, then push up the shore. Near the end of the shore will be two trees atop rocks. Run to the one on the right, turn around, then jump on the ascendant platforms. The chest is at the end of this path.

Divalian Mists

This chest is located in the eastern part of the Divalian Mists. Drive up to the gate that leads to the Blind Well. Near a set of statues will be an ascendant platform. Jump on it and follow the path. It will circle up the room before leading you outside. Take in the beautiful view before grabbing the second chest.

Spine of Keres

The Spine of Keres is the zone west of Divalian Mists. Follow the dirt path from spawn, head left when it forks, then follow the path to reach this zone.

Head into the Oracle tower, then turn left to exit the building. Follow this path until you reach a path that leads straight to the shore. If you turn around, the area should look similar to the image posted above.

Travel to the western edge of this zone, beside the trees. Some ascendant platforms will appear. Jump on them, then follow the path until you reach a large, circular platform. Turn left, then run towards the two rocks as shown below.

You’ll want to jump between these rocks, as there’s an ascendant platform between them. Jump around the left rock to find another ascendant platform.

At this point, follow the path presented by the ascendant platforms to find the chest overlooking the shore.

Gardens of Esila

This chest is rather easy to find. Travel to The Strand, then head south to find the Gardens of Esila. When you reach the garden proper, climb up the white bridge overlooking the zone. To the right of that bridge is the starting ascendant platform. Follow the path to reach the chest.

The Strand

Petra Venj will be standing near the first ascendant platform. You can follow the long path the platforms lead you through, or you can just climb up the building right behind Petra. We recommend the latter; it’s much faster. Regardless of what you do, the chest is sitting atop the building overlooking The Strand.

Aphelion’s Rest

Reach the end of the Aphelion’s Rest Lost Sector to find this chest. The Lost Sector is located under Petra Venj’s location in The Strand in the eastern part of the province. Kill the boss, then climb up the path behind it to find the chest.

Chamber of Starlight

Travel to Rheasilvia, then reach the southern part of the zone. You will find a Lost Sector named the Chamber of Starlight. Complete the Lost Sector as normal, then run towards the overlook on the second floor. Some ascendant platforms will reveal themselves. Jump towards the hanging moss to find the chest.

Rheasilvia

Note: These images were taken during the strongest curse week. These images won’t reflect what the game will look like when you grab this chest, but the path is the same—credit to Youtuber Esoterickk for the chest image.

In Rheasilvia, travel to the building in the northern part of the zone—the one that leads into Harbinger’s Seclude. Right of the entrance will be a cliffside that you can jump onto. Around this cliff will be a short path.

Follow the path shown above. When you reach the eastern part of Rheasilvia, it will look like a dead end. It’s not; you need to jump up to reach the top of the rock formation. The image below shows when you need to jump up.

Turn around to get a good view of the zone.

From this angle, jump straight ahead to find an ascendant platform. Follow this path to reach this ascendant chest.

Harbinger’s Seclude

Harbinger’s Seclude is the zone north of Rheasilvia. Follow the path until you reach the end of the path, as shown above.

To the right of the bridge will be an ascendant platform. Jump on it, then follow the path it presents. When you climb up a few platforms, the path will split. Take the left path.

Follow the path presented to reach the chest.

The Confluence

To reach The Confluence, you must enter a Taken portal that spawns in one of two spots:

  1. Spine of Keres: When you reach the first bridge leading to the Oracle tower, jump off the bridge to the cliff on the right. A portal will be inside the cliff.
  2. Harbinger’s Seclude: Reach the lower floor of this zone, then run right of the circular room with the Ahamkara skulls. A Taken portal will be nested in a corner.

After a short walk, you should be in a circular room just before the Oracle Engine. Run near one of the statues to find an ascendant platform, as shown above.

Look up to find the next platform. This path will loop around the central chamber, leading towards a chest near the top of the room.

Week Two: Growing Curse

Bay of Drowned Wishes

Travel to the Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector, just as you did during the weak curse week. Instead of traveling to the right tree on the shore, head to the left tree. The chest will be sitting atop the rock.

Spine of Keres

Similar to last week, travel to the Spine of Keres and head towards the shore. When you reach the final Awoken bridge, turn left to find an ascendant platform. Follow the path to reach the chest.

Divalian Mists

The next chest can be found at the northeast corner of the Divalian Mists. To the right of the path that leads to Rheasilvia is an ascendant platform. Turn around to see it. Follow the path to climb towards the top of the zone, revealing a chest at the end of the platforming section.

Rheasilvia

When you reach Rheasilvia, travel left to where Petra Venj resides during the strong curse week. Continue running north to find a hidden path on each cliffside. If you follow this path, you’ll eventually reach the top of the cliff, overlooking the zone. Up here, you’ll find an Awoken statue that has a Dreaming City cat under it. At the very top of the cliff is the start of this ascendant platforming section.

After the first platform, you will reach a circular platform that leads in three different directions. Go left, jump onto that platform, then go right. It’ll look like a dead-end (shown above).

Jump down towards the mist. A platform will materialize halfway through the descent. This platform has the chest.

Chamber of Starlight

In the Chamber of Starlight Lost Sector, a series of ascendant platforms can be found above the Lost Sector chest. Jump onto it, then follow the path. The chest is on a crystal at the roof of the cavern.

Harbinger’s Seclude

When you reach the open overlook in Harbinger’s Seclude, head to the western platform overlooking the zone. The right of that platform has an ascendant platform. Jump onto any platforms that are ascending; the platform to your right is a trap. You can find the chest on an ascendant platform above the Awoken statue.

Similar to last week, look for an ascendant platform floating above the central circular room. If you climb up the white pillars on the end of the room, you can easily jump onto them. Enter the strange circular structure floating above you, then traverse the maze to find the chest in the center.

Gardens of Esila

At the Gardens of Esila, run towards the platform shown above that’s on the western part of the zone.

At the end of this platform will be various ascendant circular platforms raised on their side. You’ll want to travel right. At the end of this path is the ascendant chest.

The Strand

The Awoken statue at the center of The Strand is where we want to go. Use the above image as a reference for its location.

To the right of the statue is a sloped incline you can run onto. Alternatively, you can jump atop the cluster of rocks to the statue’s right and jump onto the statue.

Whichever method you choose, you will come across the start of the platforming section once you reach the statue.

After a short jumping section, you will come across a rectangular tower. Platforms will lead you to the top of this tower. Once at the top, drop down the tower to reach the chest.

Aphelion’s Rest

Once again, an ascendant chest can be found in Aphelion’s Rest. While you’re at the boss arena, run along the right-most wall in the room.

An ascendant platform will reveal itself near a Dreaming City tower statue. Jump on this platform, then follow the short path to find the chest tucked in a corner.

Week Three: Strong Curse

Bay of Drowned Wishes

This week, you’ll want to enter the final boss arena in the Bay of Drowned Wishes. Above the tree at the center of the room is an ascendant platform. Follow the path to reach the chest.

Divalian Mists

The cliffside on the eastern part of the Divalian Mists is where this next chest is. To the right of the Blind Well entrance, run along the cliffside to find a series of rocks you can climb onto.

An ascendant platform will reveal itself on this path. Jump onto it. To reach this chest, you’ll need to jump across multiple platforms that lead you west and partially south.

After the first two platforms, you should be facing west. Jump directly across the gap. The end of this gap will reveal another series of platforms.

Now, head south.

Follow the vertical platforms that lead you south. When you reach the end, you’ll find a horizontal ascendant platform.

Jump on this platform, then hop onto the platform on your left to reach the chest.

Spine of Keres

Instead of entering the Oracle tower, turn left as soon as you can. This will lead towards a building on the other side of the zone (shown above). Follow the linear path to reach the building.

When you reach the entrance to this building, turn right instead of heading inside. Jump across the gap to find an ascendant platform. This path wraps around the building. If you can’t find a platform, just run ahead to have it materialize.

Once you reach the location shown above, turn right. An ascendant platform will materialize. Jump onto this platform to find the chest.

The Strand

Travel to the Gardens of Esila entrance on the southern end of The Strand. Instead of heading up the staircase, turn around towards the overlook. At the end of the overlook is the start of the jumping section.

Ascendant platforms will reveal a tower that you need to climb, similar to last week. When you reach the top of the first tower, look north to find a second tower. Climb the second tower to find the chest.

Gardens of Esila

South of The Strand is the Gardens of Esila. When you reach the garden itself, turn left. You should see a cliffside. Head towards that cliffside to find a lone rock pillar you can jump onto. Jump onto the pillar to find an ascendant platform. They will lead you upward towards a circular platform, as shown below.

From this platform, head right. Follow this linear path to reach the chest.

Aphelion’s Rest

Just as the weak curse chest, you can find this week’s Aphelion’s Rest chest at the end of the Lost Sector. Kill the boss, then climb up the wall to find the entrance of the zone.

Instead of jumping down, look to your left to find a few vertical platforms. Run atop them to find the chest.

Chamber of Starlight

Just as the first week, you can find this week’s Chamber of Starlight chest above the starting room. When you reach the overlook on the second floor, look to your right to find some ascendant platforms. Jump onto them to reveal a path. You will find the chest at the end of the path.

Rheasilvia

From the western entrance of Rheasilvia, travel past the first Awoken bridge to reach a central platform overlooking the northern section of the zone. At the northern end of the platform is an ascendant platform you can jump onto. This path will have you alternate left and right between platforms before you reach the chest at the end, beside the Harbinger’s Seclude building.

Harbinger’s Seclude

This is by far the easiest chest to find. Travel to the Huginn skull in Harbinger’s Seclude’s lower level to find a chest tucked away in a corner.

This week, head into the Oracle Engine room that houses the Shattered Throne entrance. Near the center of the room will be a vertical ascendant platform you can jump onto. This path will wrap around the room until you are near the ceiling, revealing a chest.
