Destiny 2: Season Of The Chosen’s Elemental Well Mods Explained

Destiny 2: Season Of The Chosen’s Elemental Well Mods Explained

Elemental Wells are a new mechanic introduced in Destiny 2’s Season of the Chosen. Similar to the Charged with Light mechanic, players can equip armor Mods that alter the benefits that these wells grant, ranging from increased Intellect to weapon damage.

Six of these Mods can be obtained from the H.E.L.M, each providing some benefit. This guide will go over how Elemental Wells work, what each mod does, and debunk a few synergies that don’t work in-game. Since this article was written during Season of the Chosen’s release, expect this guide to receive updates about how these Mods work as we get further into the season.

What’s An Elemental Well?

Elemental Wells are small orbs that grant ability energy when they are grabbed. They behave similarly to Orbs of Power, resting on the ground for a long duration before they despawn. When a player spawns a well, it appears for the entire fireteam. Wells are also instanced, meaning that the Elemental Wells you see on your screen are truly yours. Allies get their own instanced wells.

Elemental Well Effects

Here is a quick breakdown of what Elemental Wells do. This is regardless of your currently equipped Combat Style Mods.

  • Effect: Gain 10% ability energy to your ability with the lowest current energy. If you grab a well that matches your Subclass element, gain 10% ability energy to all abilities.
  • Duration: 20 seconds until it despawns.
  • Compatible Elements: Solar, Arc, Void, and Stasis

More niche cases are covered below.

Can Elemental Wells Spawn In Crucible?

Currently, no. All Mods, excluding Elemental Armaments, specify that they need combatant kills. Combatants are Bungie’s way of stating PvE enemies. As of writing this, Elemental Armaments isn’t available, so it’s unclear if that Mod is an exception to this rule.

Are Elemental Wells Instanced?

Yes. They behave the same as Orbs of Power. Whenever you generate one, an ally can grab an Elemental Well without consuming your instanced well spawn.

What Armor Can Equip These Mods?

All Exotics and Year 4 armor (Beyond Light and beyond) can equip these Mods. Any armor from Season of Arrivals and earlier cannot equip these Mods.

Do Reactive Pulse and Elemental Ordnance Synergize?

No, Reactive Pulse does not spawn Elemental Wells while Elemental Ordnance is installed. It’s unknown if this is a bug or intended since Reactive Pulse triggers other grenade-based effects.

How To Obtain These Mods

Season of the Chosen’s Elemental Well Mods can be obtained from the H.E.L.M. War Table. These Mods rotate daily, and only two are available to purchase each day. Check back at the War Table daily to obtain all six Mods. Each Mod costs three Mod Components.

All Elemental Well Mods

As of Season of the Chosen, here is every Elemental Well Mod you can obtain.

Elemental Charge

Elemental Charge (2 Energy): Become Charged with Light by picking up an elemental well. If the elemental well’s element type matches your subclass element, you gain 2 stacks of Charged with Light.

Elemental Ordnance

Elemental Ordnance (3 Energy): Defeating a combatant with a grenade spawns an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type.

Note that this does not spawn Elemental Wells off of Reactive Pulse kills. Only one well can spawn per grenade, regardless of how many kills it gets.

Elemental Light

Elemental Light (1 Energy): Defeating a combatant with your Super spawns an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type.

Elemental Armaments

Elemental Armaments (2 Energy): Weapon takedowns with a damage type that matches your subclass element have an escalating chance to spawn an elemental well.

Font Of Might

Font of Might (4 Energy): Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants a temporary bonus to weapon damage of that same elemental type.

Font Of Wisdom

Font of Wisdom (4 Energy): Picking up an elemental well that matches your subclass energy type grants you a temporary significant increase in your Intellect, improving the recharge rate of your Super.
