Destiny has had a lot of group activities over the years, with the Trials of Osiris proving to be one of the most durable among them.

Today has seen the Trials begin anew, with only a few remaining until the launch of the game’s next big expansion – The Witch Queen.

The good news for fans of the 3v3 Crucible event is that it will continue to play a critical role as an endgame activity within the new DLC.

Bungie confirmed the Trials would be part of the levelling process, explaining to Guardians this week:

“Through general gameplay, players can reach the soft cap of 1500 by earning general gear through activity completions, chests, and more.

“This includes Rare and Legendary drops. Once reaching the soft cap, players will need to earn Powerful drops from vendor challenges and other objectives in the game. Once reaching the Power cap of 1550, the only upgrades that players will find are from endgame activities that offer Pinnacle rewards.

“Your final stretch to the hard cap of 1560 will be through raids, Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner, and other endgame PvE sources.

“There will be some adjustments to Pinnacle and Powerful sources, as these shift yearly to focus on newer Seasonal content and fresh Destiny 2 expansion content offered with The Witch Queen.

“Keep an eye on tooltips as you start completing activities, as they’ll specifically note the different types of rewards that they offer.

“We have no doubts that our more eager players will create guides within a week of launch, but we hope that the Power climb is fairly easy to understand once you get your boots on the ground on February 22.”

And before all that happens, there are new Osiris rewards to unlock this weekend by pitting your fireteam against others, with the aim of scoring as many victories as needed to unlock the Flawless Adept weapon on offer.

No special rules are in place for this week’s activities, meaning there will be no matchmaking or scoring tweaks to factor.

With the Trials now progressing throughout the weekend, Guardians will be battling it out on The Twilight Gap map, with the top prize being the Sola’s Scar Adept Legendary Sword.

The official Osiris rewards were revealed after 5pm GMT, and it was up to Guardians to do the hard work as Bungie rarely ever provides clues beforehand.

Trials now boast a seven-win challenge, which will be available from Saint-14, and provides the Adept Flawless loot. Reputation gain per match has been scaled by the number of round wins on a ticket, and Trials passages are now account scoped.

Bungie has confirmed they have reduced the round time to 90 seconds, with each round starting with fresh special ammo.

Cross-Play must be enabled to participate, which also requires the purchase of the current yearly expansion.
