Streamer Disguised Toast recently formed his own Valorant team, Disguised. The new team, comprised mostly of established pro Valorant players, won its qualifying matches for VCT Challengers, and in recent live streams, Disgused Toast revealed "we haven't made a single dollar yet," and that he pays his team members more than $5,000 per month each.
As reported by Dexerto, DIsguised Toast was recently asked on a live stream how much he pays his team members. Retired CS:GO pro Yassine ‘Subroza’ Taoufik questioned him, to which Toast said he could say a number and he'd respond with higher or lower. When Subroza enquired if it was $5,000, Toast replied "higher than that." Subroza exclaimed, "Wow! I would like to join, Toast," implying this is on the higher end of the esports payscale.
Esports organisations generally keep quite tight-lipped about behind-the-scenes figures, so this is likely as good an answer as we can expect for the foreseeable future.
Toast also revealed that the team has currently made no money, unsurprising given it was only recently formed and hasn't competed for a prize yet. When his viewers asked about possible sponsorship funding to help him generate more money, he sarcastically replied, "I'm gonna let you guys in on an industry secret. Sponsors don't happen in two days. Turns out you can't convince a billion-dollar company to give your their money in two days."
Team Disguised is comprised of Valorant pros Drake 'Exalt' Branly, Joshua 'steel' Nissan, Amgalan 'Genghsta' Nemekhbayar, and Damion 'XXiF' Cook, as well as up-and-coming rookie Joseph 'clear' Allen. They comfortably got through the qualifiers, winning three matches 2-0 and two 2-1, so a tournament win is on the cards for them.
In other news, Ubisoft Paris has called on workers to strike following CEO Yves Guillemot's email putting pressure on the already apparently overworked and underpaid staff to help save the company from turmoil. The company cancelled three unannounced games this year, following four last year.
