Fortnite Doomsday event release date REVEALED: Countdown timer for underwater extravaganza

Fortnite developer Epic Games has revealed more about the end of season event for Season 2.

After being extended by more than a month, Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 2 is finally coming to an end on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android and PC.

The season extension was announced by Epic Games earlier this year: “We’re extending Chapter 2 – Season 2 of Fortnite beyond the original April 30 date.

“Our plan is to launch Chapter 2 – Season 3 on June 4.

“Before then, there’s lots of content coming in the current Season. We have multiple game updates on the way that will deliver fresh gameplay, new Challenges, bonus XP, and a couple more surprises up our sleeve!”

With the new season kicking off on June 4, Epic Games seemingly has plans to hold a big Doomsday event next weekend.

And courtesy of a new countdown clock that has appeared in-game, fans know exactly when the season-ending event will take place.

According to a tweet posted by FNBRHQ, the event takes place on May 30: “The countdown has been activated. The Doomsday Event will take place on May 30th, next Saturday!”

The countdown clock can be seen on Midas’ desk, and in the Agency. For UK fans, the event should take place just after 7pm BST on May 30.

Recent leaks and game files suggest Midas will be behind the Doomsday event, which is expected to flood and possibly submerge parts of the island.

Indeed, Fortnite fan FortTory has noticed that underwater hatches surrounding the Agency have been activated.

Furthermore, update 12.60 game files suggest that some kind of flooding will take place in the next week or so.

The news comes after Epic screened the new trailer for Christopher Nolan film Tenet within the game.

Tenet currently has a set release date for July 17 but it remains to be seen whether things will change due to the global situation.

Tenet is led by John David Washington and also stars Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Dimple Kapadia, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Clémence Poésy, with Michael Caine and Kenneth Branagh.

The film is being produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas. Thomas Hayslip is serving as executive producer.

Epic is even planning to screen a full Christopher Nolan film within Fortnite during the summer.
