Fortnite got sucked into a black hole this weekend. Yep, all of it.
The entire game vanished into a singularity void, and now it appears that the whole game is getting an overhaul – returning to consoles, PC and mobile with updated graphics, new mechanics and a brand spanking new map.
Dataminers have been beavering away at the various patches and website updates that are appearing on various platforms, and have discovered what looks to be the new map the game will be using.
You can see the leaked map below that renowned Fortnite leakerHYPEXmanaged to find online earlier.
Note the very different setup of the points of interest.

Some points of interest return from previous incarnations of the map (note Retail Row and Pleasant Park, amongst others) but there are wholly new elements to the game, too.
First up, there’s now a huge lake and island right in the center of the map, next to a massive desert area with Frenzy Farm located at its center.
A Power Plant and Beachy Bluffs make up the northern-most coastal area, with a whole bay appearing in the game, too.
A leaked trailer suggests there may be a swimming mechanic added to the game, so a bay and five major rivers leading to a central lake make sense as design decisions when you consider that as a whole new method of traversal.

Of course, this map isn’t officially revealed yet, and the quality of the image looks a little dodgy. There’s no telling if this is the real deal or not, but it’s the best we’ve got to go on for now.
Epic has yet to formally unveil anything about Season 11 or Chapter 2 (yep, we don’t even know its name!), so bear with us as we wait for Epic to announce what we need to know about the game’s future.
Fortnite will be back online soon (we hope). We’ll keep you updated as we hear more.
