Fortnite update patch notes, as Epic deals with login issues

Fortnite developer Epic Games has released a midweek maintenance patch. The surprise update is currently only available for PC, but could come to PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Android later this week. The bad news is that the new update doesn’t make any major gameplay changes or introduce any new features. On the plus side,  there’s no server downtime, so you won’t miss any game time. You will, however, need to download and install the update before you play online.

According to the patch notes, the update fixes “several known issues” affecting the PC version of the game.

The news was announced by Epic Games on Twitter: “We’ve just deployed a maintenance patch on PC to address several known issues.

“You will be able to download the patch before launching your game.”

The update launches just minutes after fans complained of login issues caused by Facebook. Epic Games is investigating the issue, and will provide an update when it’s fixed.

“We’re aware of and investigating an issue with logging in via Facebook. We will update you when we have more information.”

Fans hoping for a bigger, more substantial update will have to wait until at least next week.

According to insiders such as Shiina, the next major Fortnite update has been added to the staging servers ahead of its release.

This means that unless there’s a delay caused by the Easter break, Fortnite update 24.20 will debut on either April 11 or April 12.

The next update will likely make subtle changes to the map, add new skins and even more challenges.

Express Online will be back with news on the update shortly, so stay tuned for more information.
