FREESAT UPDATE – 6 July 2020 – A statement sent to Daily Star from Freesat this afternoon has explained that the issues with On Demand services should have now been fixed.
"Over the weekend, customers may have experienced technical issues with the Freesat service not loading the full On Demand selection," Freesat explained.
"This issue has now been resolved and we apologise to any customers who were affected."
We'd advise any users still experiencing issues (or other Freesat problems) to contact @freesat_tv on Twitter for more information and troubleshooting help.
Original Story Follows – Freesat users in the UK are today reporting problems with their on-demand services.
The independent outage monitor, down detector, has seen an increasing rise in reports of problems with the service since early this morning.
Issues began at roughly 7am this morning with users taking to social media to report issues.
Most of those who have been experiencing issues have naturally been contacting the official Freesat twitter account ( @freesat_tv ).
Here's just a quick cross selection of users reporting issues:
"Freesat On Demand appears to be down this morning. The initial page with the on demand channel selection is not loading on my Humax boxes"
"@freesat_tv hey our Freesat box is having issues connecting to on demand any ideas?"
"My Freesat Humax HDR-1000S has suddenly stopped showing any icons on the on demand page… Any idea what's happening here?"
However, it would appear that most users have been getting the same advice from Freesat's official Twitter account, something like the following, below:
"We are sorry to hear your having issues with this feature of the box. As the On demand service is a separate service to Freesat please contact the manufacturer for further support. Humax are contactable on 0344 318 8800. Kind regards"
Unfortunately, this response hasn't gone down well with users, most of whom have complained that Freesat should be doing all they can to recitify the issue, rather than dumping it at the door of Humax.
"This seems to be a nationwide problem – instead of telling us all to contact @HumaxUK, why don’t you contact them for us? #customerservice" one user wrote.
Whilst another added: "Even if this is a Humax issue, you should be able to open a case with Humax on our behalf. When you're selling us the box On demand is very much Freesat's. As soon as they're not working it's like *shrug* "tell Humax, not our problem"
For the time being, it seems like there is no solution and most users will have to wait it out until Humax customer service resumes on Monday.
More to follow.
