Hideo Kojima is working on a horror game, according to manga writer Junji Ito

Hideo Kojima is supposedly working on a horror game. That's the news according to horror writer and manga artist Junji Ito.

Answering questions during the Comic-Co[email protected] event, Ito was asked if he is working on any video games.

In response, he replied he has been in "conversation" with Hideo Kojima.

"I do know director Kojima and we have been in conversation that he may have a horror-based game that he may be doing, and so he has invited me to work on that, but there are no details on it yet," Ito told Comic Book (via a translator).

This isn't the first time we've heard rumours of Kojima's involvement with a horror game.

Shortly after the release of Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima created a bit of a buzz when he announced that he started watching horror movies again, specifically with a view to making "the scariest horror game".

Ito was briefly involved in the now-cancelled Silent Hills game Kojima was working on.

Admittedly, it sounds like his involvement barely got off the ground before the game was canned, but it's interesting that Kojima might be seeking out his involvement once more.

For some months there have been rumours that Kojima was working on a new Silent Hill game, something he has insisted is false.

Regardless, the well-known leaker, known as 'AestheticGamer' or 'Dusk Golem on Twitter has since stated that a game is in the works and could be announced later this year.

Writing on Twitter the leaker posted:

"(1/2) 100% Silent Hill is coming back, that I can say with certainty (and have been since the start of this year). A Japanese-developed Silent Hill game started dev at the beginning of 2019 (a bit of planning & work done the end of 2018). The details of who is behind it I can't"

"(2/2) 100% confirm, the sources aren't quite as known by me, there's not as many people backing that part and it seems lesser known if true, though I believe in what's been reported currently and currently investigating a bit more (though focused on a project right now)."

Rumours also suggest it could be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, but take that with a pinch of salt for the time being.
