Mass Effect: Legendary Edition listed for March release

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition listed for March release

A couple of Asian retailers have posted pre-order listings for the remastered Mass Effect trilogy and they mention a March release date.

Despite it being one of the worst kept secrets of 2020, BioWare and EA eventually confirmed that a remaster of the Mass Effect trilogy, titled Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, was in the works.

At the time, no exact release date was given, but now it’s believed that it will arrive on March 12.

First spotted by Twitter user Idle Sloth, two Asian retailers – Shopitree in Singapore and GSShop in Indonesia – have made pre-orders for the trilogy available and both list the exact same date of release. Although GSShop has subsequently removed all mention of the game.

Little has been shown of the remastered trilogy outside of the announcement trailer, but it’s been confirmed that it will contain all the original games’ single-player content and DLC.

Casey Hudson, who directed the original trilogy, stated that the intent was not to remake or reimagine those games but instead modernise them for fans and new players.

BioWare have also confirmed a whole new entry in the series is in development (referred to by many as Mass Effect 4), but even less is known about that.

A CGI trailer was shown at The Game Awards 2020, though it didn’t clarify whether the new game will continue from Mass Effect: Andromeda or return to the setting of the original trilogy.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is scheduled to release for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
