Netflix is expanding into the gaming sector this week by launching its next section – Netflix Games.
The new service is currently only available on Android but is expected to become available on iOS devices in the future.
There are plenty of free downloads to choose from that come directly from the Google PlayStore and are accessed through your Netflix App and account.
Currently, there are six games available to download and play using your Netflix account, and none of them are ad-supported.
There has also been no word from the company on monetising its new platform in the future, which means it could fold permanently into the subscription service’s existing platform as a way to retain customers.
A message from Netflix provides more on what is being offered and a hint at the company’s future plans, telling subscribers this week:
“Starting today, members everywhere can play five mobile games: Stranger Things: 1984 (BonusXP), Stranger Things 3: The Game (BonusXP), Shooting Hoops (Frosty Pop), Card Blast (Amuzo & Rogue Games), and Teeter Up (Frosty Pop).
“Whether you’re craving a casual game you can start from scratch or an immersive experience that lets you dig deeper into your favourite stories, we want to begin to build a library of games that offers something for everyone.
“We’re in the early days of creating a great gaming experience, and we’re excited to take you on this journey with us.
“We love games, whether it’s physical games (Floor Is Lava), mind games (The Circle) or Squid Game. And we love entertaining our members.”
As mentioned above, more gaming experiences are on the way, meaning that like the rest of the Netflix App, more expansions and spin-offs of famous TV Shows and Movies will be announced in the future.

HOW TO PLAY NEW NETFLIX GAMES IN THE UK
Netflix Games has been officially launched this week in the UK and the service is now rolling out on the official App.
To play the new Netflix Games, subscribers will need to access them through the Netflix App before downloading them from the Google PlayStore.
As mentioned above, the service is currently only running on Android devices but more is expected to be announced in the future.
Members on an Android mobile phone will see a dedicated games row and games tab where you can select any game to download.
If you’re not seeing that yet, that means you might need to update your Netflix app, or wait until the next one arrives in your region.
Meanwhile, members on an Android tablet will see a dedicated games row or be able to select games from the categories drop-down menu to download and play.
The good news is that while some mobile games may require an internet connection, others will be available to play offline, to make those long trips and areas with bad Wi-Fi a lot more tolerable.
A further message from Netflix covering the limitations of the new service adds: “Members will be able to play games on multiple mobile devices on the same account. If you hit your device limit— we’ll let you know and, if needed, you can sign out of devices not in use or deactivate them remotely on Netflix.com to free up a slot.
“We know how important child safety is to the parents, caregivers and guardians on our service. So these games are not available on kids profiles. If you’ve set up a PIN to prevent kids from having access to adult profiles, that same PIN will be required in order to log in to Netflix and play the game on a device.”
