Next gen cheat tech could ruin console multiplayer for every game

Experts have warned that a new machine learning cheat system is poised to make cheaters even more successful – and harder to detect.

Cheating is a problem that plagues every multiplayer game but traditionally it’s always been considered worse on PC, where it’s easier to modify games and add cheat software – which is why so many are against cross-play with PC gamers.

It’s still a massive problem on consoles though and set to get even worse, if a warning from Twitter channel Anti-Cheat Police Department Detective is accurate.

It describes a new cheat system that can work with any game by using machine learning to analyse gameplay footage and then take over the controls itself.

The cheat, whose name we’re purposefully not repeating here, is still in development but is already being used by some players, particularly in Call Of Duty.

In its current form it requires both a PC and a capture card, with the capture card sending the gameplay data, in real-time, to the PC. Since the PC then has to send inputs back to the console there’s likely to be delays, so the set-up is not quite there yet.

The other limitation is that you do have to be able to see who you’re shooting at onscreen for it to work, so it’s slightly more hands-on than the normal aimbots or wallhacks.

Once it’s been developed further though the system could prove ruinous to both casual online multiplayer and the competitive scene.

Many players already complain that games like Call Of Duty: Warzone and Fortnite are being ruined by cheaters, despite hundreds of thousands of cheaters being banned, and this is only going to make things worse.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the next generation of cheating now available on console, and has been for a while but lately its been becoming more popular and more of a trend, consoles are no longer a safe space to play your games legit anymore pic.twitter.com/iEQzPVFf1h

Is this detectable? yes, but it will be a pain for the developers to detect this it will certainly not be an easy job to detect these types of cheats, this already exists on PC but now is available in console
