Later this year Atlus will celebrate 25 years of the Persona series. This September will mark a quarter of a century since the first Persona game released on the PS1, and Atlus has already teased that they have “exciting” plans in store for the occasion. And a subtle hint may have been dropped that a Persona 5 Arena fighting game could be launching as part of the anniversary festivities.

As reported by Persona Central, Atlus has renewed a number of website addresses that were about to expire.

Domains such as PERSONA8.JP, PERSONA9.JP and PERSONA10.JP were renewed while the P5AG.JP, P3D.JP, P5D.JP and 13C.JP URLs weren’t.

With the PERSONA-DANCE.JP site active, it’s understandable the P3D.JP and P5D.JP websites weren’t renewed.

While it’s unclear what 13C.JP and P5AG.JP could be for.

However, there was one curious looking URL that did get renewed until the end of April next year.

And that domain is for P5U.JP, with those initials being used in Japan for the Arc System Works developed Persona Arena games.

Persona 4 Arena was known as P4U in the Land of the Rising Sun, and the discovery of this website has sparked speculation that a Persona 5 fighting game could be in the works.

With only a few weeks remaining till E3, there is a possibility that we could see news about the Persona 25th Anniversary celebrations drop then.

Atlus’s parent company SEGA are confirmed as having a presence at the iconic gaming expo, which is making a return this year as a digital-only event.

Alternatively, Atlus may opt to hold a standalone event to announce its Persona anniversary plans closer to the big birthday.

At the end of last year Kazuhisa Wada, the director of Persona 4 Arena, teased Atlus had some “exciting” plans in store to mark the upcoming anniversary.

Speaking about what Persona fans could look forward to in 2021, the Persona Dancing director and producer of Persona 5 Royal said: “We are quietly working on our projects.

“Thanks to your support, this year marks the 25th anniversary of the ‘Persona’ series! We’ve got some exciting plans in the works, so please look forward to them!”
