PS4 fans can download God of War and Uncharted 4 free for a short period of time

Forget about PS Plus January 2020. Put it out of your mind. Instead, how would you like to play God of War, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, GTA 5 or one of over 700 PS4, PS3 and PS2 games right now on your PlayStation 4?

What if we said it's also completely free. That's a pretty good deal we think. Especially since you've likely got a load of free time to kill until we all head back to work in January.

Well, you can, right now, without a moments delay, thanks toPlayStation Now, the console giant's streaming subscription service.

Think of it like a PlayStation-based version of Netflix for games. It's been around for years, but normally at a high price, but with Sony taking the streaming industry seriously in 2019, they've made it a far more attractive proposition in recent months.

You can also choose to download the games if you don't want to stream them. Which means a better resolution and less strain on your broadband connection.

Like any service, there's a subscription cost. But likewise, there's also free trial periods. 7 days to be more precise. Which is the perfect amount of time needed to say, play one of the best games of the generation and then cancel your subscription if you don't want to keep paying.

PS Plus January 2020 free games reveal: PS4 delay explained for PlayStation fans

  • PS Plus January 2020: Forget free PS4 games, PlayStation fans should see these rewards

You might want to be quick though, because whilst there's a huge library of 700+ games, some of the biggest titles are set to be replaced in the coming days.

Unlike Microsoft's equivalent service, Xbox Game's Pass, PlayStation Now opts to add, remove and rotate some of the console's biggest exclusives in and out.

And we're fast approaching one of those big changeovers.

From 2 January, 2020 PlayStation Now subscribers will no longer be able to play God of War, Uncharted 4, inFAMOUS Second Son or GTA 5.

Thankfully, Sony are adding some more quality titles onto the PS Now service to ring in the new year.

From 2 January, 2020, players will also be able to download or stream the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and Overcooked! 2.

That's two more quality 80+ Metacritic rated PS4 exclusives.

So technically, if you started your 7 day free trial today, you could experience all four PS4 exclusives in the next couple of days.

PS Plus December 2019 – Don't Forget…

  • GTA 6 Release Date News: Rockstar fans think they know when next Grand Theft Auto will be announced

  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo release date: When is FF7 demo coming to PSN Store?

Though the PS Plus January 2020 lineup has yet to be revealed, it's worth remembering that there's two excellent free games you can download right now and they're a cracking pair you certainly don't want to overlook.

As usual, don't hang about, they're not available forever.

Titanfall 2

From a personal perspective, Titanfall 2 is one of the best shooters of the decade, and I think everyone should play it. The campaign is only about 10 hours long, and the multiplayer is from the same team behind the currently popular Apex Legends – so you know it's going to be good.

Here's the site's summary of the game:

"In single player, Titanfall 2 delivers a crafted experience that explores the unique bond between man and machine. Playable offline, the single player campaign in Titanfall 2 lets fans step out onto The Frontier as a Militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming an elite Pilot.

"Stranded behind enemy lines and facing overwhelming odds, players must team up with a veteran Titan to uphold a mission they were never meant to carry out. In multiplayer, Respawn is continuing to evolve their gameplay to provide a more robust experience that delivers expanded depth and variety that includes six new Titans, deeper Pilot abilities, more customization options, and a robust progression system that is sure to satisfy fans."

Monster Energy Supercross

Whilst it's not as notable a title as Titanfall 2, there's still plenty to be said of Monster Energy Supercross. It's a serviceable racer that will certainly give motor sport fans a couple of hours of entertainment.

Here's the site's summary of the game:

"Race with the official riders from 250SX and 450SX on the official tracks, Daytona included, to experience one of the most spectacular and entertaining racing competition ever!

"Customize your rider and bike as you like, with countless possibilities, with more than 80 official brands and 300 items available, and challenge yourself in conquering the top of the leaderboard.

"Race alone or against players from all over the world thought different offline and online game modes! Feel the rush of adrenaline, enter the arena and be the King of Supercross!"
