PS4 fans have been voting for their favourite games of the decade over on the PlayStation Blog. Judging by the quality of the list, it’s been a fantastic decade of new game releases on the PlayStation family of consoles, especially on the PS4. With the results in and a winner crowned, it’s also clear that PlayStation 4 fans have made a big mistake.
With 11% of all votes, Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us is the game of the decade according to PlayStation fans.
While it’s not too much of a surprise – especially if you saw Metacritic’s recent Game of the Decade list – it doesn’t change the fact that PlayStation fans have got it wrong.
“When we started the poll, we had a feeling we’d see Joel and Ellie near the top,” reads a PlayStation Blog post.
“Turns out the characters, drama, and grisly action in The Last of Us left such an unforgettable impression on players that it received over 11% of all votes to become the Game of the Decade Platinum winner.”
The Last of Us is followed by God of War in second, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in third, GTA 5 at four, Red Dead Redemption 2 at five, and Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim at six.
Horizon Zero Dawn settles for seventh place, above the actual game of the decade Bloodborne at eight.
The fact Bloodborne isn’t recognised as the game of the decade is bad enough, but to not even make the top five is criminal.
On the plus side, From Software’s masterpiece is above Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Marvel’s Spider-Man, so at least PS4 fans got that right.

With Bloodborne missing out on game of the decade, From Software will be hoping it has more luck with Elden Ring, which is tipped to launch later this year.
Elden Ring is described as a “fantasy action-RPG adventure” set within a world created by Dark Souls creator Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin.
“Danger and discovery lurk around every corner in FromSoftware’s largest game to-date,” the description reads.
The game is scheduled to make an appearance at the Taipei Games Show, so fingers crossed we’ll finally be treated to some gameplay footage.
Not to be outdone, Sony will showcase The Last of Us Part 2 at the event in February.
The Last of Us Part 2 sees a 19-year-old Ellie embark on what Sony describes as a “brutal journey of retribution”.
“From the way Ellie plays to the way she navigates through this hostile world, you’re going to feel her physical, emotional, and mental state expressed through every facet of gameplay,” reads a Sony blog post.
“We’ve completely overhauled our engine, developed new combat mechanics, created a new analog stealth system, and revamped our animation system to fully express Ellie’s desperation, resourcefulness, and unique agility.”
While very little has been seen of the game in action, The Last of Us 2 is said to feature broader and more complex environments for players to explore.
The upcoming sequel has a May 29 release date on PS4, although it has already run into multiple delays.
