Samsung’s 2022 Neo QLED TV Range Will Support Cloud Gaming And NFTs

CES 2022 is just a few days away and manufacturers will be set to show off their new cutting-edge products, like smart TVs, phones, and some boring ones like refrigerators. Samsung will undoubtedly be one of the biggest brands – with the widest range of products – at the showcase. But the showstopper will surely be its 2022 range of TVs. Among the range is it's latest line of Neo QLED TVs which will support cloud gaming platforms and NFTs for some reason.

According to Samsung, "this year’s Neo Quantum Processor introduces advanced contrast mapping with BLU (back-light unit), increasing the brightness level from 12 to 14-bit gradation for greater control of the light source – the Quantum Mini LEDs. This allows the TV to control its lighting across 16,384 steps, quadrupled from the previous 4,096 steps." I'm not sure what that means exactly, but I guess the picture quality will be great.

Now onto the important part; the TVs will come with a dedicated Gaming Hub, which will include an integration with game streaming services like Nvidia GeForce Now, Google Stadia, and Utomik. There's no mention of the Xbox Cloud Gaming platform, but that could be due to the fact that it's still in beta or there are a few licensing agreements yet to be settled. It would be a no-brainer for the two to form a partnership.

In what can only be called a curious move, Samsung has also included a built-in NFT platform for "discovering, purchasing and trading digital artwork". Since nobody can agree on what exactly the ownership "rules" of NFTs are, it remains to be seen how this platform will work.

Another feature of the 2022 Neo QLED range is Watch Together, which is essentially a watch party feature that will allow you to binge shows and movies with your friends remotely. Since it looks like Covid is going to be around for a while, more manufacturers will be including such features into their entertainment products.

Lastly, Smart Calibration will let you fine tune picture quality to the optimal setting. It comes with a Basic mode if you're like me, and a Professional mode if you really want to get down to the nitty-gritties of it.
