Summer Game Fest announces Day of the Devs showcases for June and July

Two developer showcase events will take place over the next two months and will focus on various triple-A and indie games.

The Summer Game Fest has announced two extra events that it will be adding to its schedules, namely two developer showcases, which will be held on 22 June and 20 July.

Titled Day of the Devs, the purpose of these showcases will be to highlight upcoming triple-A and indie games and will see ‘exclusive game content’, including some musical performances, be livestreamed across all major platforms.

Organised by production company iam8bit and Double Fine, the studio behind games like the upcoming Psychonauts 2, the list of the games has been curated by the team and Summer Game Fest organiser Geoff Keighley.

A large number of developers and publishers has already been confirmed for the events, including:

  • Akupara Games (Mutazione, Desert Child)
  • Annapurna Interactive (Kentucky Route Zero, Sayonara Wild Hearts)
  • The Behemoth (BattleBlock Theater, Castle Crashers)
  • Finji (Night In The Woods, Overland)
  • Kowloon Nights (Darwin Project, A Place For The Unwilling)
  • Longhand Electric (Overlook Trail)
  • MWM Interactive (War Remains, Chained: A Victorian Nightmare)
  • Panic (Untitled Goose Game, Firewatch)
  • Sabotage Studio (The Messenger, Sea Of Stars)
  • Skybound Games (The Walking Dead: The Final Season, The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners)
  • Team17 (Overcooked 2, Yooka-Laylee And The Impossible Lair)
  • thatgamecompany (Sky: Children Of The Light, Journey)
  • Tribute Games (Mercenary Kings, Panzer Paladin)
  • ustwo games (Monument Valley 2, Assemble With Care)

This isn’t even all of them, with more planning to be revealed to as we get closer to each showcase.

‘Each showcase will be jam-packed, from the extended gameplay previews that have become a Day of the Devs staple to some very special surprise debuts that you’ll never see coming,’ said iam8bit co-owners Amanda White and Jon Gibson.

‘Independent game developers and publishers are a vital part of our industry and Summer Game Fest’, says Geoff Keighley.

‘I am excited to team up with Day of the Devs for these showcase events that will be filled with gameplay and updates from both independent and major publishers.’

Day of the Devs has also extended an open invitation for developers to submit their own games to the event.
