It’s that time of the year again! The annual week-long speedrun marathon Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) is this week, raising money from donations for Doctors Without Borders.
Raising over $3,000,000 in donations last summer, SGDQ is looking to top themselves yet again with this year’s marathon. Though the event unfortunately had to stray away from the typical layout with a live in-house audience due to the COVID-19 pandemic, viewers can still expect to see the same high quality of gameplay and commentary, straight from the homes of the runners themselves. This year’s event will feature 147 total speedruns over the course of August 16th through the 23rd and can be watch live on Twitch.

The SGDQ 2020 schedule tells you everything you need to know regarding the next week of speedruns. As runs will be happening 24/7 for the entire duration of the week, no viewer will realistically be able to tune into every run live, so make sure you take a look at the schedule beforehand so you don’t miss any of your favorite titles. If you happen to miss a run that you were looking forward to, or it doesn’t fit into your schedule, a full list of all the runs on demand is available for you to go back and watch.
There are certainly some runs that you won’t want to miss. The co-op Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time randomizer run by Raikaru and WoodenBarrel is certainly worth looking out for, as well as the Super Mario Bros warpless race between SuperSonic71087, Picante, GTAce99 and world record holder Kosmic. Portal 1 and 2, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Minecraft and DOOM Eternal runs are always nuts, especially for long-time fans of the franchises who have yet to see how truly broken these games are. With nearly 150 games being played, it’s certain you can find some of your favorites in the schedule and watch them be absolutely torn apart.
GDQ events have made over $26,000,000 in their history for Doctors Without Borders and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The summer events raise money for the former, an organization that provides medical humanitarian care for over 70 countries around the world. Doctors Without Borders operates without discrimination towards race, gender, religion or politics and operates almost entirely off of the generosity of donations from around the world. If you’ve got cash to spare, and love to see games made to look easy, consider donating to the organization through the GDQ website as you catch some runs.
Summer Games Does Quick is something you absolutely won’t want to miss.
