Right now, the comic book world is holding out hope that Spider-Man: No Way Home will be a massive Spidey crossover event. With rumoured appearances from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, the hype is incredibly high – but even if this turns out to not be true, we're probably in store for at least one big Spider-Man team-up movie
Tom Holland has revealed that he has been asked to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He dropped this in an interview to promote the upcoming No Way Home, where both Holland and co-star Zendaya expressed their interest in making an appearance in the animated sequel.
Speaking to Syfy Wire, both Holland and Zendaya said they "loved" the first Spider-Verse film. "Guys, call us. Put us in your movie, we want to be in it", says Holland. "I’m just waiting for the phone call".
Jacob Batalon, who plays MCU Peter's best friend, Ned, also throws his hat in the ring. This makes it possible for the whole trio to make an appearance, contracts and copyright law willing.
Holland actually further reveals that there were talks of bringing him into the film. He says that producer Amy Pascal asked him if he would lend his voice to the sequel, but he hasn't heard anything else about it since.
Part one of Across the Spider-Verse is set to hit theatres next year in October, so there's still time to sneak a cheeky MCU reference in there somehow. Failing that, we don't even know if part two has started production yet, so it looks likely it could happen.
But of course, until then we have No Way Home to keep us busy. If you just can't wait until it premieres this Wednesday, then you're in luck, because three scenes have already been shared online to drum up excitement. In these short clips, we see the first scene of the movie, part of the Spidey vs. Doc Ock fight, and the moment Doctor Strange messes up his spell.
