If you are one of the 13 million people currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 you may have noticed a few things. First, there are several NSFW bugs that can make for some pretty interesting playthroughs. Next, the character creation process may be too advanced. Finally, the character Panam bears a striking resemblance to Actress Tristin Mays. I mean, the resemblance is uncanny, enough so that the actress has weighed in on it.
For those unfamiliar with her, Tristin Mays is an American actress best known for her role as Riley Davis on MacGyver. She recently posted to her Twitter commenting on the uncanny resemblance between herself and Panam. In the post, Mays showcases several fan-made images of Cyberpunk’s Panam character next to herself. She then talks about how her fans are going crazy over the resemblance.
On her Instagram, Mays went more in-depth about how people bring up her video game look-a-like and how after finally looking into it, she may have found her new favorite video game character. Clearly, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
It appears Mays doesn’t mind the resemblance, in fact, she seems to be leaning into it with her fans. Who can blame her? It would be crazy to start up a video game only to see a pretty-close replica of your own face staring back at you. Panam is one of the most universally beloved characters in Cyberpunk after all.
There has been no word from CD Projekt Red on whether or not Mays was used as inspiration for the NPC. Though, it is totally possible that the resemblance is a coincidence of pixel proportions. Regardless, there is no denying that the character looks a lot like the actress and for now it doesn’t seem to be an issue for her. In fact, she is having some fun with it.
