Ubisoft Could Be Returning To Steam With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla And Roller Champions

Ubisoft has been conspicuously absent from Steam for the past few years, instead preferring to release the PC versions of its latest games on its Ubisoft Connect launcher and sometimes the Epic Games Store. That seems like it might be about to change, however, as two recent Ubisoft titles have been spotted in Steam's database.

The first appeared earlier this month. Users found references to Assassin's Creed Valhalla in SteamDB, which led YoobieRE to datamine the Ubisoft Connect Launcher. They found references for a new product ID listing that mentioned Steam, seemingly confirming the earlier Nvidia GeForce Now Leak that stated Valhalla would come to Steam eventually.

Today, YoobieRE is back with another Ubisoft title that was spotted on SteamDB. Roller Champions briefly appeared as a visible Steam app, only to return to obscurity after mere hours. But not before YoobieRE snagged several lines of code that explicitly mention Steam. Although there's no release date mentioned, the code seems pretty definitive: Roller Champions is coming to Steam.

Roller Champions could probably use the help that Steam's massive installed user base could provide. Rumors swirled over the summer that Ubisoft was planning to cancel the free-to-player sci-fi roller derby multiplayer game after its third season due to a low player count. The game was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Ubisoft Connect on May 25.

"Let’s clear it out of the way first, Roller Champions isn’t getting canceled, and Ubisoft fully supports it," wrote Ubisoft back in July. "What the Roller Champions dev team is doing is making sure we focus on what our players have told us needs improvement, and that supersedes all other priorities."

Since then, Roller Champions has entered into its second season, “Dragon’s Way,” with an all-new battle pass containing some cool martial arts-themed cosmetics. It also received new maps, new daily bonus rewards, and balance adjustments to be more generous to players.

Ubisoft hasn’t made any announcements for either game’s release on Steam, but we’ll be sure to let you know.
