Xbox Live Free Game WARNING: Special Xbox One downloads available now

Xbox Live Gold subscribers be warned, you have a short window of time to try out these free game trials from Microsoft this weekend.

Anyone hyped about the new Borderlands 3 announcement can download and play The Handsome Collection today.

This new Borderlands bundle can be claimed alongside WWE 2K19 and Dead by Daylight: Special Edition.

All three games can be found on the Xbox One store right now and be downloaded for free if you’re an active Xbox Live Gold member.

The special offer can be found on the Gold console Dashboard and is set to stick around for the next couple of days.

According to Microsoft, the three games will remain available to play until the early hours of Monday, April 8.

At that point, fans will need to purchase the games from the digital store to continue their adventures.

The Borderlands Hansome Collection is quite a large file and might take a few hours for it to be finished downloading on your Xbox One.

Weighing in at just under 50 GB, The Hansome Collection was originally released by Developers Gearbox Software in 2015.

It has an age rating of 18+ and recently saw an upgrade to the visuals on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro.

The Handsome Collection includes the definitive versions of both Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, both of which received new Ultra HD Texture Packs this month.

A message from Gearbox explains: “With several months to kill before the release of Borderlands 3, now is a great time to get caught up on the Borderlands story so far as told through the events of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, both of which can now be enjoyed in Ultra HD!

“The upgraded visuals increase the fidelity of game textures including characters, vehicles, weapons, and environments; they’re best enjoyed on 4K displays, but also offer some improvements at lower resolutions.

“Borderlands: The Handsome Collection for consoles comes with all the previously released downloadable content for Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, including campaign add-ons, extra playable classes, challenge arenas, level cap increases, and character customization options.”

The special Borderlands bundle has received favourable reviews from fans since it was released and is also currently discounted on the Xbox Store.

So if you do enjoy your time in either game, you can also grab the collection with 75% off.

And if a return to Pandora doesn’t interest you, there are two other games that can be download and played for free.

WWE 2K19 has a similar download size and age rating as Borderlands and is currently available to purchase with 65% off.

Dead by Daylight is the smallest of the three to download on Xbox One but also received the worst review scores of the bunch from users on Metacritic.

And because it is the special edition of the game, horror fans should have plenty of characters to test out over the weekend, including the latest addition: Ash Williams from the Ash vs Evil Dead series.”

The official game description explains the premise of the title, revealing “Ever wished to play as one of the characters from your favourite horror movies? To feel the adrenaline rush of the survivors or the thrill of being the killer?

“Dead by Daylight is a 1 vs 4 multiplayer game that allows you to choose between playing an unstoppable Killer and one of four survivors trying to evade a gruesome death.”
