Xbox Live free games News: Download this Xbox One game today to enjoy all weekend

This week, the biggest fighting games tournament of the year is taking place. EVO.

To celebrate the gathering of the most skilled and entertaining fighters in the world, Microsoft has teamed up with Bandai Namco to offer out a new free game that you can download and play all weekend.

Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Ultimate Games Pass subscribers can download and play the excellent Dragon Ball FighterZ right now – and see what all the hype is about.

The game will be available for gamers to download from now until August 5 at 8am UK time (or thereabouts).

If you like what you play, you’ll even get to pick up the game for cheap once the trial period is over.

During the game’s Free Play Days period, you can nab the title for just £12.49 from the Xbox Store. Alternatively, the Fighterz Edition will be available for £29.99.

Then there’s the Ultimate Edition, which is reduced from £102.49 to just £40.99 – so there’s a bargain for every version of the game.

“Download Dragon Ball FighterZ today by clicking on the Gold Member area on the home dashboard or directly from the Microsoft Store and take the stage in one of the most dynamic fighting games to date!” Microsoft notes.

“Xbox Live Gold members can also pick up Dragon Ball FighterZ at a discount during this period and enjoy this fighting game frenzy beyond the Free Play Days period,” the post continues.

“If purchased, you can continue playing while keeping your Gamerscore and achievements earned in-game during the event.”

If you need to know more about the game, check out the official description of the game below.

“Featuring a roster of your favourite Dragon Ball characters with a 3vs3 tag/support system, relive some of the most epic battles from the anime or craft your own story with the large assortment of characters,” reads the official description.

“Create a team with classic fan-favourite characters such as Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo, or mix and match with villains such as Cell and Frieza.

“With a free switching battle mechanic that adds another element of strategy to the gameplay, Dragon Ball FighterZ boasts a level of complexity that delivers a unique fighting experience, elevating it amongst its peers.”

We gave the game a full 5/5 when it launched back in January 2018.

You can read the full review at the link, but our verdict noted:

“Dragon Ball FighterZ is a robust package finished off with extraordinary graphics and a love for the core series that oozes out of every character interaction, every animation, every move.

“Battling in this game can make you feel like a Super Saiyan badass, even if you’re new to fighting games.”

It’s definitely worth a free play this weekend.
