Xbox Series X pre-orders go live Sept. 22

Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox hardware — the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S — will be released on Nov. 10, the company announced Wednesday, with pre-orders for the two systems going live on Sept. 22.

Xbox Series X will be sold for $499, while the smaller, less powerful, and all-digital Xbox Series S will be sold for $299. Xbox fans looking to jump into the next generation without a large upfront cost can also opt for the Xbox All Access plan, which includes “a next generation Xbox and 24 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate starting at $24.99 a month,” Microsoft said. That price jumps to $34.99 a month for All Access subscribers who opt for the Xbox Series X.

Microsoft did not announce retailers for Xbox Series X and Series S pre-orders, but both Amazon and Microsoft have placeholder store pages for Xbox Series X. We’ll update this story with new information as it becomes available.

Xbox Series X’s biggest challenger this holiday season, Sony’s PlayStation 5, does not yet have an announced release date or price.
