Enter the Gungeon Adds Dog Petting After Being Called out on Twitter

Enter the Gungeon, a bullet hell roguelike originally released in 2016, has officially added the ability to pet dogs after a popular Twitter account noted its previous inability to do so.

On March 8, the Twitter account @CanYouPetTheDog, which has done the holy work of cataloging which games let you pet dogs and which games appallingly don’t, tweeted out “You cannot pet the dog in Enter the Gungeon.” Fortuitously, developer Dodge Roll’s Dave Crooks was tagged in a comment, subsequently replying “Hold my beer.”

Ultimately, A Farewell to Arms, a free (and final) update for Enter the Gungeon was released on April 5 and included the ability to pet the dog, Junior II.

The Can You Pet the Dog? Twitter account has been gaining popularity since its inception in March 2019, letting followers know you can pet dogs in games like Darkest Dungeon and Mass Effect 2 (kind of) but can’t in games like Garfield: Lasagna World Tour and, heartbreakingly, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

In our review of Enter the Gungeon, we called the game “Great” saying “Enter the Gungeon’s roguelike elements and vast array of crazy weapons keep it entertaining for the long haul.”
