Take out a big juicy bite out of organs in this trading sim game

The moment I saw Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator I fell in love with how each organ pulses and writhes. In the game, you play as a powerful alien overlord, buying and selling organs. While you’ll spend plenty of time in the market, you’ll also get to choose what to do with those organs and who you kill for them.

We have this and more in Cool WIP, Polygon’s weekly roundup of eye-catching clips and screenshots of works in progress. Each week, the Polygon staff scours the internet for the most interesting games still under construction, to give you a sampler of the coolest up-and-coming projects.

The organ trading game isn’t the only grotesque we have today. There’s a horror game that will have you taking out a cast of Sesame Street-look-alike puppets, a Zelda-like horror game, and a cartoony brawler where every character is made up of a scrap yard junk. To top it all off, we have a more comforting game about moving and unpacking your room.

The only scenario where dismembered organs look cool

Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator was announced back in January, but I was reminded of it when one of its developers, Xalavier Nelson Jr. (a regular contributor to Polygon) posted an update to the game this week. The game allows you to partake in the worst form of capitalism by buying and selling valuable organs as if they were casual objects. The game is done up in a pixelated, neon-green style, and the UI is absolutely stunning. You can check out its Steam page here.

Sesame Street has never been so terrifying

My Friendly Neighborhood is a survival horror game about … Sesame Street? In the game, you play as Gordon, a repairman sent to investigate the set of a children’s show based on Sesame Street. In the game, you walk around environments inspired by the show and gun down beloved characters that look like Muppets, including Ernie. One clip shared by the developer, John Szymanski, shares video of bug he discovered: Instead of dying after taking a bullet, an Ernie-like character spawns dozens more Ernies that immediately chase down the main character in a swarm. There’s no release date, but there is a Steam page where you can catch updates on the game.

A Zelda-like horror game, but it’s pink

I guess I’m just a sucker for CRT displays that are remade for modern hardware. Here is this adorable concept from Anastasia Fedorova for an untitled game. Fedorova said that it will be a horror game, but didn’t mention any details beyond that. A GIF from the developer shows a bedroom stylized with a purple and pink color scheme. You can follow progress on the game on their Twitter account.

Moving sucks, but not if you make it a game

Moving is the worst, but at least it can be an interesting challenge. In Unpacking from Witch Beam Games, you’ll take your time and relax as you tinker with a room, and figure out where to put all of your belongings. It’s kind of like 3D Tetris, except with all of your junk. A clip from the game shows the player setting up a computer and turning on the computer in-game. Unpacking is coming to Linux, Mac, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Xbox One in 2021.

Look at this cool fighter, who’s just a monster made of stress signs

This character comes from, Scrap Bringer, a twin-stick brawler being developed by PseudoZap. This animation comes from a boss fight where you go up against a fighter fused with a bunch of street signs, wielding a traffic light as a weapon. The game has a cartoony look that brings its junk-filled creations to life in a fun way. Currently, Scrap Bringer doesn’t have a release date but you can follow the studio’s progress on its Twitter account.
