The Division 2 and Sekiro Are the Best-Selling Games of March 2019

Last month’s NPD (National Purchase Diary) report was released today, highlighting the top-selling games of March 2019 and the year so far.

Topping the charts this past March was Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 as the best-selling game across all platforms, and the sixth largest launch month for a Ubisoft release. The runner-up for the top spot went to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, with MLB ’19: The Show and Devil May Cry 5 trailing behind it in third and fourth place.

Kingdom Hearts 3, meanwhile, is the best-selling game of the year so far, as well as the best-selling game in series history (that title was previously held by the original Kingdom Hearts). Following Square Enix’s Disney RPG in sales for the year are The Division 2, Anthem, the Resident Evil 2 remake, and Red Dead Redemption 2.

Hardware sales reportedly fell 15% for the month, though the Nintendo Switch was the best-selling platform for both the month and the quarter.

The industry overall saw an 11% drop in sales for the month, down to roughly $1.2 billion from last March’s $1.3B. 2019, on the whole, is down 2% from 2018, roughly a $70 million dip in sales, though the first quarter is actually looking at a 2% increase in profits over last year.

Take-Two Interactive had the most games in the top 10 for the month, which can be found listed below.
