Today, Microsoft announced a new tier of Game Pass called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which allows you to bundle all of their subscriptions under a $14.99-a-month price tag. It’s a good deal, but here’s an even better one: Microsoft gave a number of these subscriptions away during their E3 presentation in a pretty cool Easter egg that most of us probably missed.
It happens quickly, during a small portion of the latest Halo Infinite trailer. When Master Chief wakes from his slumber, a variety of diagnostics scurry across his screen. Some people thought this text looked like codes, so they tried plugging them into their Xbox. Turns out, Microsoft was hiding a number of vouchers for Game Pass Ultimate in the trailers, as fans on social media are attesting to:
Unfortunately, eagle-eyed viewers have nabbed all the available codes. Bummer. But still, pretty cool secret, huh? (CD Projekt Red did something similar at E3 2018, hiding codes for free copies of The Witcher 3 in a trailer for Cyberpunk 2077.)
The Game Pass Ultimate allows players to enjoy a variety of games on a subscription model, for both Xbox and PC — and it also throws in a month of Xbox Live Gold for good measure.
Halo Infinite is out during holiday 2020, as a launch title for Project Scarlett, Microsoft’s next-generation console.
