Anthem developers tease endgame Cataclysm with livestream, test server

Anthem’s developers will share more about the postponed Cataclysm endgame event during a livestream Thursday afternoon, and meantime they’ve set up a public test server where PC players can see the content as it’s being built.

BioWare still has no launch day or estimate for Cataclysm, which was originally due for May, and officially delayed in April, along with several other major features, as the studio worked on cleaning up other fixes, the game’s stability, and flow.

But Anthem version 1.2.0 was released yesterday, which provided several improvements and quality-of-life fixes, plus some minor content additions, along with the usual balancing changes and bug fixes. That doesn’t address all of the current known issues, but a community representative yesterday said the public test server and the player feedback it solicits should help with that ongoing process.

Cataclysm is supposed to be a seasonal, limited-time event with in-game manifestations, such as new enemies, extreme weather and clues to in-world mysteries to solve. The first one was part of the 90-day roadmap BioWare outlined following Anthem’s lackluster launch in February. The Cataclysm wasn’t the only big feature getting postponed; a Mastery System, player guilds, and the second phase of Legendary Missions were also pushed back.

The first look at Anthem’s Cataclysm is Thursday at 4 p.m. EDT, on Twitch or Mixer.
