We know that Electronic Arts will be touting Battlefield 5 at EA Play 2019 this weekend, and the next chapter of the game’s post-release DLC, “Defying the Odds” will begin June 27 and deliver new maps for the game’s multiplayer modes over the next two months.
The content starts with the vehicle-friendly Al Sundan map on June 27, which offers long-distance warfare in a desert setting. It’s back to Greece in June for Marita, supporting more general/traditional multiplayer combat, before we’re given two maps in August that EA DICE says will promise close quarters fighting: the Lofoten Islands and Provence.
There still appears to be plenty of long sightlines and room for close-air support on those battlefields, but things will get really up-close and personal in the fifth chapter with “Operation Underground,” which appears to be set inside a metro station. More on that should be coming on Saturday, June 7 at 10:30 a.m. PDT/1:30 p.m. EDT.
Defying the Odds will also offer new Elite skins (this month) and new weapons (ongoing) that players can unlock by completing weekly challenges. As with all of the DLC to date, this stuff is free to all owners of Battlefield 5.
The current chapter of the Tides of War season of content, Trial By Fire, just dropped a new map on May 30 — Mercury, in which you battle the enemy on the Cretan coast. Chapter 3 will close out sometime in June with Outpost, a brand-new game mode.
