Watch Dogs: Legion revealed, coming March 2020

The third installment in Ubisoft’s open-world hacking game was officially announced at E3 2019 today. Watch Dogs: Legion will let players explore London in a futuristic “post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London’s fortunes.”

If that sounds familiar, it’s because Watch Dogs: Legion leaked last week via a retailer listing — but this is the first time we’re seeing the game in motion. Per the trailer, you’ll be able to recruit and play as any NPC in the game world, all in the name of building up a resistance force and freeing London from the grip of tyranny. Each character will have its own animation, voice over, and general traits, all of which will affect how you experience the game.

“However you want to play, whoever you want to be, Watch Dogs: Legion lets you do that,” game director Clint Hocking said.

It all sounds very ambitious: In the trailer, we saw everything from a grandma to a former spy character that players could control. (She’s our favorite.) From the looks of it, Watch Dogs: Legion will make ample use of the U.K.’s CCTV camera surveillance system.

Watch Dogs: Legion is coming to PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Google Stadia on March 6, 2020. Ubisoft released a gameplay walkthrough at E3 2019, which you can watch below.
