Apple Arcade Games Subscription Service Announced

Apple has officially announced a games subscription service called Apple Arcade during today’s special event in the Steve Jobs Theater.

Apple Arcade is a single subscription with access to over 100 new and exclusive games, with more to be added. It will be available in Fall 2019 in 150 countries and regions. Pricing and more details will come at a later date.

Beyond a Steel Sky, Lifelike, Fantasian and more have been announced for the service. Final Fantasy’s Hironobu Sakaguchi called Fantasian “a game that shouldn’t exist, every day is a challenge, creating gaming worlds by hand, we are building dioramas, photographing them and adding 3D characters. I’m a little scared of how many sets we are going to have to build in the end.”

Apple Arcade will be a new area on the App Store, and subscribers will be able to download and play any Apple Arcade game from the App Store. Games can be played across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, and users can pick up where they left off on any applicable device. Every game will be playable offline, so users can play anywhere, regardless internet connection. Future updates will be included, without adds and additional purchases.

Apple Arcade games can’t collect any data on its users without consent. It will feature family sharing, curation and more.
