Applications are now open for the fourth annual Oculus Launch Pad, a program designed to help empower developers and creators from diverse backgrounds. Applications are being accepted until August 23rd, 2019.
Oculus announced the news on their developer blog, stating that successful applicants will receive development and business focused education, one-on-one support, and a number of other resources that the company says will “elevate their technical skills and understanding of the industry.”
Launch Pad 2019 is slated to begin on September 22nd, 2019 and starts with a two-day boot camp in San Jose, California. Oculus says the program will include “up to 100 professionals.” Oculus Connect 6 begins shortly afterwards, which Oculus is making free for all Launch Pad participants too, including comped travel expenses such as hotel, flights, and ground transportation, while on-site meals during the two-day boot camp. They’re also throwing in a free Oculus Rift S to each participant.
In the three months after boot camp, Oculus will provide development support to help participants finish their working prototype game/experience. Then, participants will be able to show off their work at Facebook Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA.
Launch Pad Candidates will also have the opportunity to apply for a competitive scholarship of between $5,000 – $50,000, totaling “up to $250,000 for the full program,” the company says.
Unfortunately, Launch Pad 2019 is only open to legal residents and those physically located in the United States or Canada. Applicants must also be considered a non-minor in their state/province. Make sure to check out the full terms and conditions here before you apply.
